Dan Hatfield of Comfort was sworn in as 2014 chairman of the board for the 80,000-member Texas REALTORS® (TAR) during the organization’s annual conference.
Hatfield, a fourth-generation Texan and second-generation Texas REALTOR®, ascends to TAR’s highest elected leadership position.
A real estate broker specializing in farm and ranch properties, Hatfield was accompanied by his wife, Cindy, and 440 close friends – fellow Texas REALTORS® – for his induction ceremony.
Hatfield has been active in the REALTOR® organization for more than 25 years, earning numerous honors and awards. In 2010, he was national president of the REALTORS® Land Institute, based in Chicago. Hatfield’s interests and expertise include land use, property rights and politics. In 2012, he served as chairman of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Land Use, Property Rights and Environment Committee.
At the local level, the 1975 Medina High graduate served as president of the Bandera County Board of REALTORS® in 1989 and 1993. He co-founded the Texas International Apple Festival and has been involved in numerous civic and charitable causes.
Next year as chairman of the Texas REALTORS®, Hatfield will travel throughout the state to speak at up to 20 regional meetings, and will serve as presiding officer over the TAR board of directors, executive board and leadership team.
Hatfield studied political science, attending both the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University in College Station. He holds the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) professional designation.
